Pre-Mattel Original Vintage American Girl Doll Josefina Montoya

Josefina was introduced in 1997 and was one of the first six dolls created by Pleasant Company. Josefina's story takes place in 1824 New Mexico, which was part of Mexico before the Mexican-American War.

Josefina's friend Mariana lives in a nearby Indian pueblo. Teresita, the Montoyas' ranch servant, teaches Josefina how to weave on a Navajo-style floor loom.
