American Girl GOTY CHRISSA's CRAFT STUDIO Table & WORKING SEWING MACHINE READ. This is a great toy to give as a gift or add to someone's collection! There's often a delight that can be seen in a person's eyes when a small mechanical object actually works as it would in real life. This American Girl Sewing Machine is one of them. Because it doesn't really sew, it can be a gift to a younger child as well.

Set the sewing machine on the desktop and press the teal button on the inside of the fly wheel on the right side (as you face the machine). The sewing machine will make a sewing noise, the light will come on and the shaft will move the sewing foot up and down. If it doesn't work at first, check the on/off switch underneath the machine where the batteries are positioned. First press the button underneath the machine to the "ON" and then the "OFF" position.

Button may stick or not make proper contact once in a while. After about 20 seconds from the start, the machine's movement and sound will stop.

I took pictures of the sewing machine with the needle shaft in three different positions, with the light on during each of them. When I received the sewing table, one corner had been slightly curled under. I repaired the corner with a tiny amount of wood putty and is no longer really noticeable any more, but I like to fully disclose information about the condition of anything that I sell.
